Tales From Another World

Kaleo Church in Houston spent the first year or more walking through the book of Matthew. To keep this from getting monotonous, Pastor Bill and I decided to break the book up into smaller sermon series.

Tales From Another World was one such series dealing with the parables of Jesus. Parables are stories. When Jesus told the parables, they were relevant to the time. He was speaking to farmers and herdsmen. Not many of us have sheep running around so one thing Pastor Bill focussed on during this series was relating these parables to our lives today.

This is where the title and theme, Tales From Another World, came from.

I tried to capture an old world style with in the imagery for this series. I felt using rural, farmer/shepherd imagery was too closely related to the series. I wanted to bring the imagery home and give a sense of arrival. That’s why I used photographs of early New England. First Generation American immigrants coming to a new world and bringing with them the stories and culture of another time and place.
